A flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) is a type of transport packaging widely used for the shipment of powdered, granular, and lump‑shaped materials such as food, grains, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and mineral products. In developed countries, FIBCs are extensively employed as packaging solutions for both transportation and storage.
Also known as flexible intermediate bulk containers, ton bags, or space bags, among other names, FIBCs—whose English acronym stands for “Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container”—are a type of unit load device. When used in conjunction with cranes or forklifts, they enable unitized transportation and are ideally suited for handling large volumes of bulk powdered and granular materials.
Precautions for the loading and unloading of ton bags:
1. During lifting operations, do not stand beneath the flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC).
2. Please hang the lifting hook at the center of the sling or lifting rope; do not lift the container bag diagonally, from one side only, or by diagonal pulling.
3. During handling, avoid rubbing, snagging, or impacting the container bag with other objects.
4. Do not pull the strap outward in the opposite direction;
5. When operating a forklift with a bulk bag, avoid allowing the forks to come into contact with or puncture the bag body to prevent damage.
6. During handling in the workshop, use pallets whenever possible and avoid lifting bulk bags with hooks; do not move them while they are swinging.
7. Keep the flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) upright during loading, unloading, and stacking.
8. Do not stand the bulk bag upright;
9. Do not drag the bulk bag on the ground or concrete;
10. When storage outdoors is unavoidable, the bulk bags shall be placed on pallets and securely covered with an opaque tarpaulin.
11. After use, wrap the bulk bag with paper or an opaque tarpaulin and store it in a well-ventilated area.
